Post details: Ainsworth Park
Ainsworth Park
Who was Ainsworth and why are so many streets named after him?

From the site:
This building was constructed in 1888 as the O. A. Ainsworth and Co. Feed Mill and Grain Storage at 514 and 516 Congress Street. Owner Oliver A. Ainsworth contracted the Detroit architectural firm of Mason & Rice to build the structure ... The Ainsworth mill operated until about 1910.

That's really interesting. 516 Congress is near the chicken shack across from the police station, at the edge of Ainsworth Park. Not sure how 516 Congress and the mill are related, but it must be the same guy.

This may be a little off topic but, I love how you support and appreciate the Ypsilanti area. I lived in an apartment in Ypsi on Perrin St about 4 years ago and moved to Milan to seek cheaper rent and a more rural setting. I couldn't stand it. I hated Milan. That town has no pulse at all and I'm pretty sure most of the people that live there are inbred. All I ever did in that town was sleep there and occasionally shop at their suck-ass Kroger (formerly Food Town). I have recently purchased a home in Ypsi Twp. and I love it. I am so glad to be back in Ypsi and it is wonderful to read your posts about the town. I am fully aware of the problems that Ypsi has, but what city doesn't have these problems? Drugs, prostitution, gangs, a poor economy, they weren't invented in Ypsi.
Keep up the interesting posts and keep striving to keep Ypsi weird. That's what we're known for.

Thanks, Wes. Ypsi love is never off topic. Haven't spent much time in Milan, but if it's like Middleville... there's 2 bars counting the bowling alley and if you want to dine out it's pizza, pizza, or pizza. The kids hang out in Kentwood like it's the big city. Couldn't wait to get out of there. The problems of Middleville are much harder to live with than Ypsi's.
Keeping it weird is a priority!

Hello, I'm trying to get info on the Ainsworths from the kentwood/springcreek area. I'm currently in Alabama, but I know my parents grewup in those areas. My parents would've been in highschool (springcreek) roughly between '60-'65. Please email me, any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
T. Ainsworth
