We're Not Leaving
Despite all our complaining, we still think Ypsilanti is the best thing going in Michigan. We looked into moving to Detroit when we got home from Portland, but the areas we really like have lost most of their houses and we aren't poor enough to buy any of the new ones. I guess our idea of neighborhood doesn't fit with Detroit's income segregation program.
Pending the inspector doesn't find that the house is falling in, we will be residents of Ward 1, Precinct 1, in plenty of time for the November election. A friend tells us the style of our new bathroom is yooper-chic.

Yes you guys do complain a alot but I it took me some time to realize what you guys are all about and I love your support of the City and the general area. There are not many neighbors of mine who are as dedicated at staying up on the City's future plans and I highly respect that even if your view is slightly different from mine. I wish I would have visited more and got to understand your views before I attached.
I posted once on Steve's site complaining but as you can see I am still here. I plan on being around as long as your blogs are going. Thanks for the time and love of the City and the effort you guys put into many of your posts. I appreciate what you and your husband are doing, honestly........

Phil, Hillary and I are honestly trying to encite anger, hostility, and rage in a politically apathetic town of mostly strangers.
I found that positive posts spurred little comment or opinion. The only way to really bring people out of their shells is to rattle their cage a little.
I wrote this post about water street in October of 2003. Since then we've become much more aware of the long-term problems this is going to cause the city. They won't even answer our questions anymore.
I defy anyone to engage Ypsilanti City Leadership for a year and not come out angry and outraged.

Thanks, Phil. I'm glad you stuck around. I hope you'll leave more comments!
We're probably going to have an open house in September. Anyone who dares is welcome :)

I'd love to! when is it official? I'm good at painting and cleaning and moving, too. (dang, I shouldn't put that word out, should I?)
sounds like you two found a diamond in the rough.
